I’m leaving Copán and I can feel the twinge of nostalgia already settling in my heart. ¡Hasta pronto! I will see you again soon!! I LOVE it here. When will I quit falling in love with EVERY place I go? How could I ever write about how these places, these people, these cultures ENRICH me, how they make me feel? I can’t. I try, but my words, my pictures, my videos are mere shadows of the treasures I am so blessed to discover and enjoy! It makes life so difficult… all these places pull at me to go so many different directions at once! But, I feel as if there is a plan taking shape before me… it’s huge. But, I have an excitement and zeal for it. I will need everyone’s help! More on that later…
On the bus… yes, the luxury one. I was in a rush and needed to be sure I would make it to my destination since I left midday and would be arriving in La Ceiba after nightfall. Nightfall comes quite early this close to the equator btw. It’s dark by 8 and it’s summer… Anyways, on the bus, I look out my window and spy the Chortí Maya adobe mud huts. I can’t help but think of the challenges they face everyday. I’ve traveled in 3rd world countries before and I’ve seen the extreme poverty. But, before, I never really knew exactly what it was like. I was always looking out the window… wondering. Now, I know. I know a little bit about what these people are facing. And that makes my trip so much more meaningful and worthwhile. I’ve learned and now I can share. There are other indigenous peoples here in Honduras that have a rough time of it. It would be a privilege to learn more about the Lenca, the Garifuna and even the poor local Hondurans. Gosh, I can’t wait to share the vision I have!
But, the stories from the agri-tour need to be published first. It’s a BIG vision. It will have many challenges, I know. Challenges I can’t even imagine. But, I’m really excited about it!!! Speaking of being excited… I can’t help but be excited by the STUNNING views in this country!!!! Looking out the window offers the eyes a feast of treasure!
